Maddy Turnwald, CTRS

Maddy graduated from the University of Toledo in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation. Throughout college, Maddy worked at Bittersweet Farms in Whitehouse, Ohio, which is where she developed a passion for working with adults and children with developmental disabilities.  Maddy completed her internship at Orchard Villa and upon finishing, earned her CTRS credentials. She then moved to Fort Wayne where she began working on the Medicaid waiver with Pure Abilities.

After doing that for a couple years, Maddy then was in charge of an activities department in a skilled nursing facility, to which she chose to return to work on the Medicaid waiver at New Leaf Recreation.

Maddy is passionate about working with others to help them achieve their goals and gain independence in their everyday lives. Watching her clients grow and learn throughout Recreational Therapy sessions is Maddy’s favorite part of her career.

In her free time, Maddy enjoys spending time with her husband Matt, twin boys Beckham and Maverick, and their Aussiedoodle, Fiona. Her family and her enjoy traveling and going to the lake and river. Maddy is an avid sports fan and enjoys watching baseball and football. Maddy and her family are working on traveling to every major league baseball stadium. She also enjoys baking, crafting, golfing, and reading in her free time.
