Alex Dolgner, CTRS

Recreational Therapist

Alex graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelors of Science in Therapeutic Recreation in 2022. He received his Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credentials upon graduation. While in college, Alex was selected to be the Student State Representative for the Illinois Recreational Therapy Association (ILRTA). Also, while at ISU, Alex had the opportunity to present on the topic of Wheelchair Football at the Midwest Symposium on Therapeutic Recreation in St. Louis, MO. Alex has served as a recreational therapist in both clinical and community environments which include hospital psychiatric units, residential behavioral health, special recreation associations, and respite care for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Alex is energetic, enthusiastic, and is passionate about the field of recreational therapy. He loves the holistic approach of the field and the endless possibilities for it being a lifelong therapy. He enjoys serving in the capacity of adapting leisure to meet people’s physical, cognitive, and psychological levels of function for a better quality of life while working on rehabilitation goals. Alex is a big goal setter who enjoys helping others realize their potential.

Alex is a HUGE football guy and Michigan Wolverines fan! He played thirteen years of the game and has been coaching ever since he was fourteen. He has held positions with each level of football coaching. He has also coached nearly every Special Olympics sport. Alex is very into music and plays the drums. He enjoys listening to rock music, especially AC/DC, and living an active lifestyle.
